Body, Mind & Spirit

Most of us have heard the phrase Body, Mind & Spirit. This term is used frequently within the holistic community. Something I hear in both my massage therapy and yoga business.

I find it curious though that most therapist when working with clients or working within neglect mind and spirit. They focus entirely on the body. Their work seems to be based on purely the physical without any thoughts to the health of mind and spirit.

A while back I had a chat with Trish Whynot about this. A couple of comments that she made were "If the fruit is bad do you examine the fruit to see what is wrong or do you look at the tree." and  "the physical is the end result."

If you want to fix the root cause then we need to look within at mind and spirit. The pain and discomfort that we feel is real, often very real. However, addressing only the body will not provide healing. Often the physical action that we all want to blame for the hurt is only the trigger. Emotional and/or spiritual imbalances within have made those areas of the body vulnerable.
